Deschutes Brewery backs Whychus restoration

On Tuesday, the Deschutes Land Trust, a Bend-based nonprofit that focuses on preserving land in Central Oregon for habitat restoration, announced that it has received a $30,000 donation from Deschutes Brewery toward its campaign to restore Whychus Creek, according to a news release from the nonprofit.
Since the Deschutes Land Trust’s campaign to restore Whychus Creek, a tributary of the Deschutes River that flows through Deschutes and Jefferson counties, began three years ago, the organization has raised nearly $1.7 million from private individuals and has secured around 2,300 acres along the creek for habitat restoration, according to the release. In March, the Deschutes Land Trust purchased 130 acres along the creek, which is now known as Willow Springs Preserve. The nonprofit is seeking $300,000 more for the campaign by June 30.
The Deschutes Land Trust will be Deschutes Brewery’s featured nonprofit during each of the brewery’s Community Pint nights in June, according to the release.
